Freedom..dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun…YEAH RIGHT!!!

I’m sure every blogger and their mothers have covered SOPA and PIPA at great length this week.

SOPA=Stop Online Piracy Act
To read Wikipedia’s entry on SOPA Click HERE
Basically it gives the US Government more Federal control over the content found on-line. Namely “Rouge” websites from outside of U.S. jurisdiction that are pirating, or bootlegging American intellectual and patented materials.

Sure Artists need to get paid for their works. There are ways to fight it. But this Bill gives the Government the power to force on-line search engines to block certain sites. In other words, INTERNET CENSORSHIP. Many artists are fighting against this, and I don’t blame them. I invite you to brush up on the topic, and look at it yourself to form your own opinion.

Brand New Riddim from Hot Coffee: Stunt Double Riddim (not to be confused with Stuntdouble & Tenshun)

This Stylo-G Track been blazing out of my iPhone for a minute now! UK!

The homie Sumach got front page of The Reader, something not alot of Hip-Hop cats can boast of here in San Diego.CLICK HERE TO READ THE ARTICLE ON GONJASUFI

If you don’t know the drill with Gonjasufi, check the article, then check this joint. My dude is on some next level bugged out SOUL TO THE BONE dirty music. Not dirty like Blowfly, but dirty like this…

To hear more Gonjasufi, visit his myspace by clicking HERE, check his homepage HERE, and buy his music HERE.

I always hear cats talk about how you got to get out of San Diego to get respect, and I understand it has worked for alot of folks. It gets frustrating out here. Cost of living is high, wages and job opps are low and if you want to follow your dreams it’s a hard living. That’s why I like what Sumach says about repping SD so that folks DO know culture exists out here. As far as leaving SD to make noise, in my case, Fuck That! I Will Get Over I gotta play outside of San Diego, sure, but I got gotta nurture my home, and make sure there are still places to get a dose of culture. Shit, maybe we won’t have the next popular scene based on our city. GOOD! The last thing we want is a bunch of culture whores transplanting to get in on the next big thing. That’s what (with all due respect) L.A. and S.F. are good for. You don’t know what San Diego is known for besides beaches and Shamu? No? GOOD! Stay your ass at Sea World or stay your ass home…

(BTW, I Love SF, and sometimes LA)
(I say sometimes LA because, and LA can back me up, there’s little love between the cities when the Raiders play the Chargers in SD)

Speaking of “Welcome To San Diego, Now Go Home”, and speaking of Stuntdouble & Tenshun…

I will also be playing at one of my favorite dives in the city this Monday, January 23rd at LIVE WIRE for Wheels Of The Industry. This series of Monday Night DJ Nights runs through the gambit of Daygo DJs, mixing up the styles and vibes every week, has been brought to us for years now by Glory Bound Productions. The DJ has to spin with his back to bar patrons, there is barely any room at all to dance so most have to get inventive, and the drinks flow HEAVY all night. If you do not have anything cracking, roll through…

“So down, and down, and down, and down, and down and down we go/
Hurry my darling we musn’t be late…for the show”

Folks, my apologies. It’s been non-stop grinding transitioning into the last year for Planet Earth. I been trying to make the most of it…

New Years Eve was bananas. I flew out with my boy DJ Peril to Orlando to DJ a show with Horizen, The Expendables & Slightly Stoopid at the Hard Rock at Universal Studios. The house was packed, the vibes were high and we were greeted at the DJ table with a 12 pack of Tecate and a bottle of Cazadores…My Rider is the shit:

2 Tall Cans of Tecate
1 Bottle of Tequila Cazadores
1 pair of Size 12 corduroy house shoes
(preferably Black)
1/4 oz. of High Grade Marijuana

The house shoes and the weed pretty much guarantee the other things will be waiting for me.

We were joined at the afterparty in the Lennon Room by noneother than Mojo Morgan of Morgan Heritage who rocked a short but sharp track set with Peril pon the controls.
You can check write-up of the show on Stoopid’s blog by clicking HERE

The following week I dipped out to Las Vegas for the CES for a gig DJing at a booth for 50 Cents’ new headphones by SMS Audio.

I am actually typing this post up in my fancy ass suite at the Vdara hotel. Why am I spending my last evening in Vegas in my room instead of creating an interesting story about my trip?

My gig has been djing from 2-4pm at the booth while 50 signs autographs. Pretty easy. Yesterday 50 was joined by none other than Floyd Mayweather

Oh, you’re not knowing about the Mayweather vs. Ortiz fight? CLICK HERE

“Right hand…and that’s all she wrote…”

We had a little afterparty last night at The Chandelier Room which was supposed to be a laid back cocktail party with a loungy vibe, and I was going to play from 8-11. 50 Cent and his entourage dipped out around 10:45, and I thought it would wind down. At 11pm my buddy Ron told me I could stop whenever I wanted, but it was too late. The “dancefloor” was popping and I felt it was my duty not to leave the people high & dry. 3 hours and 10 Makers & Cokes later they finally made last call… H.A.M. indeed…

(This was early out, what I expected the night to be like)

Needless to say, I’m worn and they are trying to drag me out for a drink, but I got a shuttle at 7am for the airport. When I touch down in San Diego, I got to get setup for a 3 day run with Stoopid and the Aggrolites that includes San Diego, Pomona, and Santa Cruz. For more info click HERE.

Not to leave you without some new music, check the new J Boog video filmed on location in San Francisco. Big up Jah Warrior Shelter Hi-Fi for popping up all over the video…smoking weed of course!

Jump it!

2012 IS HERE!

“This whole concept of Santa Claus has many flaws…
and breaks many laws”

(Sorry, i meant to post this before Christmas, but things have been hectic to say the least!)

Prince Zimboo is back at it again, kicking alot of knowledge for those who really listen. Plus it’s funny as hell.

If you say Zimboo doesn’t kill it, you are WRONG.

New Pressure video. Starts off with the Fuss & Fight Riddim and moves into this new tune: Touch You.

I found this new Popcaan Mix. Popcaan is my number one artist to watch for 2012.

DJ GazaPriince-Popcaan Ravin King Mix CD DOWNLOAD

I played with the Zebras from Gematria at the Whistlestop last Friday. Shit was RAM! As well, they had a wicked Zebra pinata. If you asked me before whether or not I thought it was a good idea to give someone in a bar a broomstick, after drinking all night, spin them around, and let them loose on a pinata on a dark dancefloor, i would have said no…BUT… it was wicked.

So the vibe was Cumbia, Dancehall, and Moombathon the whole night. I decided to step out a little, and sprinkle a little bit of Trival tunes. These tunes seemed to mash the place up so I went heavy on it for the night. If you have no idea what I’m talking about with “Trival” (Tree-Ball or sometimes 3ball), check this video below. And don’t blame me if you end up with a pair of overly customized pointy boots!

Back to some dancehall history…
The rivalry between Beenie Man and Bounty Killa goes back decades now. It’s a rivalry that goes in and out of the dancehall consciousness, and only takes but a rumor, for the artists to show up on the latest riddim dissing each other.

(I know the audio sucks but it’s history) This was a couple days ago at the Diamond Bash. Seems the rivalry is still strong!

One last video for the year…Material Riddim. Been feeling this one:

I’ll be playing in Orlando for New Years at the Hard Rock Cafe at Universal Studios Florida with Slightly Stoopid and Expendables. I’m bringing my partner DJ Peril and we’re going to be doing a pre-party on the 31st, and a new years after party, where it’s rumored, very special guest Mojo Morgan (of Morgan Heritage) will be doing a set.

DJ Peril is going to be touring with Million Stylez in Australia next month. Tribe of Kings International!!!

2011 5000

“I pray you do not look at me, I pray I don’t look back”

The National Defense Authorization Act is something I think everyone should keep their eyes on. Section 1031…

“allowing for the indefinite detention of U.S. citizens without a trial or hearing, and Section 1032 requires that detentions authorized by Section 1031 be by the armed forces in the case of non-citizens.”

This is of course is an anti-terrorism measure, but it concerns me that the word “Terrorist” is can be applied so loosely. Detention of U.S. citizens without trial sounds very troubling to me. We’ve already seen the use of LRAD technology which was not to be used on the American public.

And now Obama has the both Senate and Congress approved Bill in front of him ready to be signed, and I’m seeing our Rights being decimated.

(((awkward segue between revolution and dancehall gyal tunes)))

These new Cham tunes are KILLERS. I’ve been using my IrieFM iPhone App to tune in to Jamaican radio while I’ve been building my new studio, and these tunes are in HEAVY rotation. If you aren’t knowing about Irie FM, it’s a paid subscription, but if you’re a Reggae fanatic, it’s well worth it. Check out their website:

Speaking of Irie FM, one of their resident mixers, DJ Sunshine has just released this I-Octane promo mix, entitled “So Siick”. This is a free download, and it you can get it HERE.

Gappy Ranks is an artist I been following for a minute now. He’s been killing riddims all year long and this new Hot Coffee mixtape is some new stuff. Visit and click on the photo. “War Ah You Gate” mixttape fee download…(When you get to the sendspace, dont be fooled by the fake download links)

Hmmm…November 5th, 2012?

Vybz Kartel-Money Dun is fucking wicked. Big tunes still coming out, Teacha’s Pet (Kartel’s reality TV program featuring him in a mansion with a handfull of gals) is internationally popular, and he is still in jail… Jamaica not only makes stars, it makes legends.

Speaking of MONEY DUN
Ocean Boogie is DUN! Although our last party didn’t end with a bottle shower, like the previous video, it didn’t end well.

Ocean Boogie was a party I had been trying to get together for years in Ocean Beach. None of the bars on the main drag wanted to pay DJs, and didn’t quite understand the potential. Nick’s at the Pier let us in finally in 2010. This was the flyer for when we started to do it weekly instead of bi-weekly. We made it a little over a year.

We have a couple sets of photos on our website, you can check by clicking HERE

And there’s this video, for the last time:

Ocean Boogie wasn’t pretentious. We weren’t pushing boundaries with groundbreaking selections, or trying to impress the more educated ears with rare unearthed dance jewels that club critics would blog about. It was straight up get faded, dance hard and dance dirty until 2am came around. Old School, Funk, Disco, Top 40, 4 on the floor fistpumper jumpers, hard gangster rap, Reggae and Dancehall. Whatever the ladies wanted to hear, because if they were not happy then dudes were not happy and the place could get ugly if the conditions were right. Just plain fun. Nobody in OB cared if their dance moves were bizarre, in fact they preferred it. More often than not, gals removed their shoes along with other parts of their outfit. House party in a bar was our M.O. It was my favorite party for a year. No format. No bullshit. Strictly for the folks in Ocean Beach, and folks from outside that hear about it. We only canvased our flyers on Newport Ave., and let the word spread on it’s own. We did it for Ocean Beach, and that’s it. Not for the fortune, or the glory but give folks in OB a place to go dance to something besides jam bands and beach reggae shows. A place where you could catch outlaw bikers doing the dougie right next to girls who spent an hour doing their hair, knowing it was going to be fucked up by the end of the night.

Big ups to the DJs that through and rocked: FAM ROYAL CREW‘s J Blow & Myson King, SONNY PHONO, THE DJ H.O.P., DJ NON-FIT, DJ I-Vier, DJ ESEF, DASH EYE, JESTER, BETO… am I missing anyone? Hope not. Big up still..

Obviously I feel sad about losing our Saturday Night Ocean Beach Boogie Party, but all good things must come to an end.

Hola Hola Hola

Ladies & Gentlemen…SPEEDOMETER

Check the original by Eddie Bo & Inez Cheatham-Lover & A Friend

I was first put on to Speedometer by my boy Kyle from Slighty Stoopid when he gave me a couple tracks to play between sets. Next thing I know they are covering the Speedometer track “Accra International Airport” for the encore every night. And when these encores go down, whatever group they are touring with will come out and make a special appearance. I’ve seen them do this with Snoop Dogg/Kurupt/Daz, Del The Funky Homosapien & Bukue 1, Schwayze & Cisco Adler, and Cypress Hill. Check this footy from the Mile High Fest in Denver in 2010.

Since it was festival style, my role as tour DJ didnt make alot of sense, so I got to kick back and play dominoes, drink beer, puff that good Colorado, and joyride in golf carts.

Miles & Kyle on the bikes, C-Money, OG, BB, Ian Neville, Pauly, Bukue One, Ready, Del The Funkee Homosapien and you even catch Cypress Crew in the beginning. I also got to check Nas & Damien Marley that day which was wicked.

Couldn’t leave yall without a little Dancehall nugget for you.
This track was lighting up twitter last night. Interesting cuz this tune has been out for a minute (March?!?!?) Beenie still killing it.

It’s no wonder so many out-of-town football fans crowd Qualcomm Stadium every home game. The weather in their city sucks and San Diego is an escape from their misery…Anyhow. A boatload of new Riddims are touching down.

If you ever peeped my blog in the past, you might remember this little holiday gem I posted a couple years ago. It being Jesus’ fake B-Day and all, I figured it was time to share it for all the DJs doing Christmas parties this season
